For almost a century,
the authentic taste of Rome
A story of family, passion, and good food
Founded in 1930, Ristorante Al Picchio is one of those places that are part of Rome’s history.
It all started with a small family-run tavern, where the aromas of Roman cuisine filled the street and customers stopped by for a warm meal and a genuine smile.
Over time, the place has grown, but the spirit remains the same: welcoming every guest as if they were family.
Here, tradition is not a trend, but a promise renewed every day.
From carbonara to oxtail stew, every recipe carries the memory of Roman grandmothers, Sunday lunches, and long table conversations.
Our philosophy: simplicity, quality, and heart
For us, cooking is an act of love.
We choose only fresh and genuine ingredients, work with small local producers, and respect the seasons, because we believe quality starts with the raw materials.
Every dish is prepared on the spot, with care and patience, just like in the old days.
Our secret? No secret: just passion, respect for tradition, and the desire to make you feel good.
With us, even a simple plate of pasta becomes a memory to take home.
A restaurant that smells of Rome
The wooden beams, honey-colored walls, the aroma of sauce simmering in the kitchen: everything at Picchio tells the soul of the city.
We are located in the heart of the historic center, just steps from the Trevi Fountain, welcoming travelers, Romans, families, and old friends every day.
Whether you come for a romantic dinner, an evening with friends, or a quiet lunch, you’ll always find a smile and a good dish that feels like home.
The people behind Picchio
Our restaurant is made of people.
Those in the dining room passionately describing the dishes, those in the kitchen working every day to keep tradition alive, and those who for generations have preserved this legacy of flavors and hospitality.
Every member of our staff is part of the Picchio family, and each contributes to creating that unique atmosphere that sets us apart: authentic, warm, sincere.
What they say about us
Assolutamente consigliato
Camerieri gentili e professionali, ambiente rustico ma allo stesso tempo elegante e tranquillo, consigliato!
